Biography
Janese Hexon, a full-time professional artist, is an abstract realist
sculptor working in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Her range of media
includes bronze, mixed, resin, and terra cotta and exhibits in 3-5
juried shows annually. Her sculpture has won numerous awards,
including “Best of Pennsylvania in Sculpture,” “Award of Excellence,”
“First Prize,” and several “Juror’s Awards.”
Janese has over 25 juried shows to her credit, including solos and
invitationals. Some of her major exhibitions include:
• Westmoreland Museum of Art Biennial
• Museum of Contemporary Art, Washington, DC
• Southern Allegheny Museum of Art
• 19th International Sculpture Conference
• Lorillard Wolfe 104th Annual Exhibition
She also extensively exhibits with her professional associations: The
Associated Artists of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh Society of Sculptors,
and Pittsburgh Society of Artists.
Janese’s practical experience includes Artist-in-Residence at Art
Bronze Foundry, direct study under Bruno Lucchessi and Peter
Calaboyis, and commissions from local patrons.
While traveling and studying in Africa and Europe, she found lasting
influence and inspiration with her composition and subject matter.
In addition to the Greater Pittsburgh Area, she has been exhibited
and collected in New York, New Jersey, Virginia, Florida, and
Washington, DC.
Janese uses art to express our human commonalities through
emotions. Her work is easily reached by the viewer, allowing for their
own personal connection to make the viewing experience intimate.
